Difference between AXi and RM series power supplies from Corsair?

legend8887

I know the RM series is optimized for silence because it has a zero RPM fan mode, but the AXi series has that as well. Also the RM series has Gold efficiency, so is there a reason to get the RM series over the AXi series?

Platinum rating on the AXi and the RM has Gold (Still very high efficiency) Also the AXi series allows digital monitoring of the PSU with Corsair Link.

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

No 3% max. That is on 100% load with 230 Volts.  80+ Gold is 89% efficent in this situation and 80+ Platinum is 92%.

Just get the cheaper one. They're both great. (unless you really need axi's features, which if you did then you would have probably known already)

i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz (Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo); ASrock Z87 EXTREME4; 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 RAM @ 2133MHz; Asus DirectCU GTX 560; Super Flower Golden King 550 Platinum PSU;1TB Seagate Barracuda;Corsair 200r case.

The AXi offers longer warranty, better efficiency, better electrical performance (voltage regulation, ripple suppression, etc), better internal components (the higher 50C rating also reflects this), etc.

On the other hand, the AXi series cost quite a bit more (around $85 difference), and there have been complaints from people regarding the fan profile (though, not from everybody). For the price it is at, I don't see any reason to get the AX860i...
