Nvidia 770 vs. 780 For 1080p Gaming

Ok I was wondering which graphics card to buy. I'm going to be gaming on a 1080p monitor and I do have a second monitor buy that for watching stuff when u play my games. So should I go with the 780 or 770 and I want to play on all high setting because, I'm like a graphic freak as my friends call me. Or should I wait for the 800 series of desktop graphic cards to come out. I really need your guys opinion b/c I really don't wanta to waste my parents money lol.

770 or 860.

780+ is best at 1440p+

And the last part about parents money, are you using their credit card without permission?! :o JK x3

770 is plenty. For the price of a 780 and the improvement at 1080p, I wouldn't bother.

Error: 410

My 770 has a difficult time maxing out everything at 1600x900 so I would recommend the 780.

770 is ideal for 1080p gaming. Iv had no issues with mine. The 780 would obviously be better, but for 1080p, the 770 is a better value

What games are you playing? My 660 Ti maxes out anything on 1080p that isn't Crysis 3 or Titanfall, and I just have to turn down the model textures for Titanfall. Skyrim with a lot of mods do fine too (40 FPS on the low end). The 780 is overkill for just 1080p.

I haven't tried Arma and Battlefield was fine for me. I hope you can max Euro and DayZ or something isn't working right.

I turn the view distance and everything to the max in ARMA 3, in BF4 I trun everything to the max and I run 200% scaling

I can "max" all of my games, but if I'm paying $350 for a gpu to play on 900p I expect that I will be getting 60 fps.

I have an R9 290 (equivalent to a GTX 780) for 1080p. Just 'cause I like to run my games with VSync on and don't want it to drop below 60 fps (and get locked to 30) at any point. Still, a 770 would be just fine for most users.

Well,I run every demanding game at 1600 x 1050 at high settings(sometimes medium) with my 560 at around 40 fps.

Depending on costs for the 770, i would grab the Powercolor R9 290 on Newegg, 3 games included, custom cooler, $430 and superior to the 770.

Lets see the rest of your build, I'm confident I will be able to cut costs in other areas to help make more money for the GTX 780.  I vote for the 780 because it is an incredible, incredible card that will last you for a very long time.  I do the exact same thing with my 780, one very nice IPS panel monitor for my games, and one older monitor which is not as nice for my media and web browsing while gaming.  The 780 handles both even under the highest settings on the most demanding games.

Free games typically aren't that demanding.  Show us what your current build is and what games you intend to play.
