Armoury crate is bloatware

Tomorrow I just uninstalled armoury crate it struck at update and it is crape it uses by cpu resources. Everytime from starting the laptop to shutting it down by cpu clock speed is around 4ghz even in silent mode. Since after installing the cpu frequency reduce to 1 ghz and there is no load on system. Is it is safe to not using armoury crate and let windows to manage all the things ?

Yes it will cause no harm at all. I can definitely sympathize for bloatware that does stuff like that for power consumption reasons.

Armoury Crate is bloatware, but not bloatware. It can help with some simple things instead of like DriverBooster7 so on. But you can easily replace the usage of Armoury Crate by installing software like HWinfo64, etc. It's an okay software but definitely over promoted by ASUS and it's pretty much bloatware.

Armory Crate is known to cause issues, even BSOD-s. But to uninstall it one has to use the tool provided by Asus, simply uninstalling it doesn't stop the problematic processes and services.

You need to disable it in BIOS or it will try to install at every boot up.

Sometimes I forget after resetting CMOS after failed RAM OC and it keeps installing... it's just annoying as hell.

At least that's the case for W10... now in W11 I get a popup where I can deny it but it just keeps nagging me until I go back to BIOS and disable it.

But I am on PC... not sure if that's also available in the notebook BIOS.

  • 5 months later...

Had many Crate issues and it produced wanky behaviour with Asus Gladius II mouse and Asus Falchion wireless keyboard which blows my mind. Could not update firmware. Win 11 Ghost starts. PC was just built fresh with Asus mobo, ROG video, Asus PS. Decided to wipe clean and re-install windows without.  Armoury Crate. WORD OF CAUTION: If you disable ‘automatically install Armoury Crate’ in Asus BIOS it may trigger back to install automatically if you do a BIOS update. Asus is doing their customers a disservice by forcing driver & firmware updates through an interface known to be buggy for many users. This YOLO PC is THE most expensive build I’ve ever undertaken and it has caused the most grief and loss of productivity I’ve ever experienced. Why oh why, oh my oh my did I ever leave my trusted MSI.
