650w should do if you have a baller unit.

I wouldn't go under 750. Of course that depends on the rest of your system.

Corsair RM650, gold

It'll do.

Baller unit ?

Baller:

-Wealthy; successful; cool; favorable; anything that is good.

-literally 'the one who balls'. It started as a description for those who would be proficient in a sport like basketball and grew to be a term for describing anyone or anything that was successful; etc.

So my current RM650 will work fine with no problems ?

I thought i would need a 750W

I would not overclock your CPU or graphics cards with a 650 watt. If you want a little headroom, get something bigger. You asked for the minimum, as to say something that will run them and nothing else.

If i used my 650w with 2x 780s and something went wrong and the system shut off, would i be able to get a 750w and no components would be damaged ?

Mine has shut off while overclocking in Crysis 3, which is why I recommend nothing lower than 750w. None of my components were damaged though. I just don't play overclock in that game anymore which is ironically the only game I need to overclock for those extra fps, but I seldom play it anyway.

If i do get another 780 at christmas then i will just use my 650w and see how it goes, if it doesn't work then i will get a larger PSU

750w is recommended since most decent 750w units are sufficient for delivering power for 2 780's. This is not the case for smaller psus.
