LG C2 VS S95B for gaming

Ayush008

Hello guys,

I hope you all are doing well.....

Stay safe and healthy

(Your opinion is highly valuable for me)

As you all know that 2022 is a big year for next generation displays including c2 and s95b. We all are pretty much excited to put our hands on next gen displays for gaming and movies. However, the question is which one to choose...?

Now, i know many of you have quite deep knowledge regarding these model's.

I will feel highly privileged if I can get your opinion regarding which one to choose...

Bdw right now I have lg nano cell 80. Planning to upgrade my display screen.

Feel free to share your opinion.

For me it will come down to cost.

Right now I have 2 LG B9s and an Nano Cell 85.

I am happy with the B9s but the one I tried to use as a monitor did burn in.

The Nano Cell is 120hz and has VRR but it does not compare well with OLEDs in picture quality.

Plus for LG.

It will be G-SYNC Compatible.  This is as good as the G-SYNC module on my LG 1440 144hz monitor.

LG is going back to 48gbps on HDMI 2.1.

At $1,800 for the 55" it won't take long for it to get below $1,500 and that is my limit.

S95B

No good gaming history.  All of my Samsung's TVs have been a fail for PC gaming so I will need to see lots of reviews by people I trust like LTT.

Too expensive. At $2,200 for the 55" it may never get into my price range.

If I had to buy now it would be a LC C1.  At $1,100 for the 55" I can get 2 for the price of the S95B.

I'm pretty sure the B9 also has 120 Hz and G-Sync support.

To OP: OLED over NanoCell if you can afford it and watch enough varying content, that burn-in won't be a problem. The difference in the picture quality is huge.

I have 2 B9s and they do have both.

They have been perfect for PC gaming.

Even when I did not have 30 series cards they did great at 1440p at 120hz.

I use the LG Nano Cell(IPS) because one one of my B9s did burn in from using this forum(Chrome). The B9 that was used for games and movies only did not burn in.

It took 4900 hours for the burn in to show up and now the TV now has over 7000 hours. It is only noticeable on a blank screen but it can't be unseen.

I would like to use OLEDs for all my computing needs so I will be watching long turn reviews of both.

Depends on the use case.

For pure movie watching and general TV use, get the S95B. Its 'QD-OLED' is superior to that of the WRGB OLED LG uses.

However...

For gaming, LG still rains supreme even though their C2 is somewhat a downgrade in regards to the BFi implementation, however most people choose VRR over BFI so if ur in that boat u wont notice the lack of good BFi.

OFc price also comes into play for most people. The absolute difference between the 2 wont likely be obvious unless u have them side by side, so if ur not that anal about getting the best of the best, just get the LG, its cheaper and can do everything well.

Thnx @SolarNova,

For sharing your opinion. Your explanation is quite helpful and practical. Thnx for your co-operation. Bdw my purpose to purchase it for gaming only.

Can't compromise with both ( BFI & Vrr)

The C2 has an 'arguably' a broken BFi implementation that only runs at 60hz, making it effectively unusable, unlike the C1 which had a very good implementation.

VRR is fine.

However much like all prior OLEDs, VRR and BFI cannot be used at the same time, u have to choose one or the other unfortunately.

Unless u intend on getting the 42" LG C2 (since 42" is new for the C2 lineup), it might be worth trying to get a hold of a C1 (48"+) if u want to use BFI. They should be going for a good deal cheaper now, but stocks will be running out.

Just making it clear however ..again... using BFI disables VRR, BFi also lowers brightness, and at the stronger setting u may notice the flicker ..some peoples eyes can adjust to this ..others cant..

Example of BFI brightness hit between CX and C1
