Running Linux from my older Android device - is this possible?

Hi.

I have a good Xiaomi phone which I no longer need.

Can I connect it to my 1080p monitor and run native linux from it?

is this even possible?

Thank you!

Only if you can find someone who ported a linux system to it, which is very unlikely.

You can, but I believe not natively.

You can install Linux, set up a remote desktop, connect to said remote desktop with your phone and have it output to a monitor.

Might be back and forth to set it up, but it should be possible.

It is. It's running on an Android Phone. Maybe not natively, but it is physically running on the phone. I've had Linux running on some old phones before.

If you want to get display out, unless methods changed since I last had Linux on a phone, you will need to set up a Remote Desktop on your Linux installation (Linux runs in the background) and you use Remote Desktop to access and control the Linux installation.

From there, just connect your Phone to a Monitor as you normally would (OTG), connect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and you're good to go.

Is it an optimal solution? Nope, but it works.

Oh my bad. I thought you meant install Linux on a pc and use the phone to remote into said pc...

Possible with running a chroot inside it, there are some apps avaiable for that purpose, but unlikely if you mean running a native linux distribution which is not running android underlying
