Former Oppo exec Pete Lau announced his plans to make "the perfect smartphone" a few months ago, and now the OnePlus One is almost here. Its launch is scheduled for April 23rd, but Android Authority points out these pictures posted on a forum that claim to show press renders of the device itself and "StyleSwap" covers that will let owners customize its looks. Not-so-shockingly, what we're seeing looks a lot like the Oppo Find 5, although the only question left is whether they're authentic or just a fan's creation. We've already gotten a sneak peek at the CyanogenMod software it will run, and we know how much it costs, but official word on everything else will have to wait until Wednesday. Good thing I didn't get the M8 yet. Seems like this will be a really good looking phone, though it seems like its going to be plastic or something? Really looking forward to more information on this phone. I need to get rid of my Galaxy S1 and the details on this phone seems to be impressing me.

It's a pretty good price. But I wouldn't say I'm impressed by the look of this phone. It's just a big plastic block, like most other androids.

I would have a hard time buying a cell phone from a company that I have never heard of before a few days ago.

Only way I would was if it brought something seriously impressive about it, which this doesn't seem to have.

I don't really upgrade until my stuff is not working normally. There were other phones did impress me before this, but that was when they were first released. You can't really get impressed by past hardware when the future ones are looking pretty nice.

Stick to your Apple then. Dont forget about the HTC M8 that's solid aluminium or anything....

I read an article that said it cost Samsung $256 in parts to manufacture the S5. Maybe OnePlus found a way to cut costs. Not having a fingerprint reader and heartbeat sensor is a start.

OnePlus is a Chinese company, so they will be getting huge tax breaks like Oppo. It's more of a country effort rather then a company effort to push China into the tech space. Which is nice for the market since we will be seeing cheaper phones with high specs.

I was tempted by a Nexus 5  but figured Google/HTC/LG will already be on to developing the next model.  This should fit in nicely!

I would just like to point out that you cant buy this phone easily. It will be avaible to buy only with invitations located on social networks and also users that already own the device can then send invitation to those who does not.

Also there is model of phone that have body made out of magnesium (so you dont have to worry about plastic covers only).
