Recommendations for an $80 Headphones?

Memorizer

Hello, I am planning to buy a pair of headphones and I have a budget of around $80.

I am planning to buy the Cooler Master MH752 but I am open to your suggestions that would make a better purchase. Thanks!

Do you need the headphones to have a microphone attached to them?

not necessarily, but it would be helpful because my condenser mic is wonky at times

752 is fine enough, the creative aurvana live! SE (Not v2), and the akg k361 for $105 will be a decent bit better

Razer Kraken X. All the way. I've used them for months, they sound good, have a decent mic, are really comfortable and are like 40 bucks.

For headphones, Phillips sh9500 are just about the Gold Standard for under $100. If you also need a microphone, then the Superlux HD668B are superb under $40. Which leaves enough money for a vmoda mic, a blue snowball, fifine mic.

If you just want to keep thing simple and get a headset, as boring as it sounds, I prefer Astro. They are super comfy, even the A10. And, they put decent mics on all of their headsets all the way down to the A10. In comparison, I’d rather wear my $40 Astro A10 than my $140 Razer Kiara Pro, way more comfortable and the flip down mic is effortless.

Put most money into best headphones you can get (ggl, also rtings.com can be of help) and cheap out on the mic (unless great mic is an utmost necessity, most probably not, so get a clip-on mic)

Edit:

Headphones w/out built-in mic are not necessarily better sound/quality-wise

rtings can be useful, their audio ratings can be very meh at times- kind of questionable- though. And yep, headphones aren't inherently better than headsets.

what are your thoughts on getting Takstar Pro 82 instead of the MH752 if i wouldn't necessarily need the detachable mic?

Can’t say, never tried any of em.

If these are your ‘finalists’, then try to find a place where you can test them, or do returns.

In the end, your preferences will determine the winner.

shp9500 are excellent, I found that with my onboard setup the treble was a tone that didn't agree with my 41yo ears but my nephew who I gave them to adores them.  Some people love them and I see why, the rest say they are to bright and I see why.  They were instantly fixed with a dac/amp but it cost just as much as the headphones and is only available in the US.  Maybe the Syba Sonic SD-DAC63116 would do the same job of taming the treble.  I should ask my sister if her son would be willing to trade the shp9500 back for the blon bl-60's that I don't like (something about the drivers on the blons, when my jaw pops and clicks it reverberates through my head, NOTHING to do with the product and everything to do with my TMJ).

I would take the Kph30i any day over the ksc75 even though I'd imagine they have the same drivers.  The ksc75 just never sit the right distance from my ears and I think? they don't have a mic (I only wear them in bed though so take that for what it's worth).  The kph30i can also be modded with knock off grado pad's for a sound that reminds me of my early teens with cheapo sony headphones but in a glorious way.  If I had to give up everything I have and was left with grado modded kph30i..... I wouldn't complain a whole lot, they're that wonderful.  The kph40 is also an excellent selection.
