3070 to 3080

JoeQuartuccio

So I have a 3070 in my build right now and its good. But for the games I play like Call of Duty or GTA, especially GTA, I barely get 80 fps. Im wondering if its worth it to get a 3080 and if it is a noticable difference from the 3070

What resolution? What other specs? Might be a CPU bottleneck, especially in GTA because that game is CPU heavy and not GPU heavy. I get about 80-100 fps and am bottlenecked by a 10400F with a 5500 XT, which tells enough for how easily that game is CPU bottlenecked.

for those games at 1080p, not worth it imo. i went from the 3070 to 3080, but i play much more demanding titles at 1440p.

Reduce the grass quality setting to medium and watch your FPS skyrocket - GTA V is optimized like garbage 😉

so if I was to go to 1440p then a 3080 upgrade is worth it.

3080 10GB is about 25% faster than a 3070. If you didn't already have a 3070 then I'd consider the upgrade if you have a 1440p or a 4K monitor, but in your case I'd say just keep the 3070 and wait for next-gen cards 😉

Just lower your settings. Most people target ultra when it's really unnecessary. Playing around with things like AA and other features can also make a massive difference in frames and very little effect on the game. Also, as others have stated, you're at the end of the product cycle. Makes absolutely no sense to upgrade to a 3080 for such a huge cost and such a small relative difference.

Try at just 16x2.  4 sticks can be problematic, 4 mismatched sticks like that is sadistic.

If that's true, why would anyone buy a used 3070 when they can get a new 3080 for the same price?

He was saying he can sell his 3070 for the 3080s msrp, but obviously you cant find 3080a for their msrp.
