Help with power connector from ML350 G6

Gitface

Hi all,

I looking to put together a cheap file server and picked up a drive cage from a ML350 G6 server (part ID: HP 511782-001). My question is does anyone know the pinout for the power connector.

From probing the SATA connector I've figured out 3 Ground and 3 +12V pins, neither the +5v or +3.3V from the SATA connecter pass through to the power plug so my assumption is that these voltages are generated on the back plane.

So does anyone know what these missing four pins are and will it work without these connected.

Thanks in advance,
Gitface....

i build a casemod in a DL380 G8 a while ago, where i used the stock drivecages. I used a PCIe extension cable and spliced it onto the backplane. using just ground and 12V, everything worked except the activity LEDs on the drives.

not 100% the same machine ofcourse, but i bet the same applies.

That was what I was wondering as well if I just need to 12v and gnd connected. I'll give it a try and see.

Thanks
