does the Silverstone Permafrost PF240W-ARGB V2 perform well

Gerpsy
Go to solution Solved by jones177,

I would not buy a Silverstone AIO.

I spent part of yesterday replacing one.

It was bought in July 2020 and the pump failed. It was replaced by an EK.

Another that I bought in August 2021 became unusably and was replaced as well. It started to underperform and became loud.

I also had 2 Silverstone case fans fail as well that were in my i7 10900kf build.

So in my last 5 builds the only failures I have had is with Silverstone products.

I am Planning to build a gaming rig with an intel i5-12600KF, ASUS Prime Z690-P, NZXT h510 Flow, and am currently looking for a cooler. I am by all means not an expert in the computer building world and that's why i'm asking y'all
So I'm looking for a white AIO that looks clean (not too distracting) and it needs to be 240mm long. So i came across the Silverstone Permafrost PF240W ARGB-V2 and it fits my expectations. it fits on an LGA1700 socket as well which is nice because duh, the i5-12th gen is a 1700 ofc. Any help/recommendations are greatly appreciated

@jones177 any other recommendations for white 240mm AIOs that look clean? I don't really like the Enermax AquaFusion 240

I have a White build with a Corsair 5000d and a Strix 3080 white OC but it uses a black aio.

If I went white on the AIO I would tray a Lian Li Galahad White.

Could you maybe open one of the failed ones? I would guess they will refund you if it the loop is filled with gunk. If theyre stupid enough to ignore you, you can always make a bit of noise with pictures of the gunk and maybe get a threat of a class action lawsuit going. Maybe post both of them to Gamers Nexus. Aio loops are not supposed to grow shut in 2 years.

They only have a one year warranty.

When I bought the first one there was a shortage of AIOs so if I wanted a top brand I would of had to pay scalper prices. I took a chance and it did not work out.

I got the second one because the first on did well cooling a i9 10900k. It was not as good at cooling as the first one so I knew there was a quality control issues.

When It got loud I just wanted it gone.

The AIO head has 6 torques and 2 custom screws. When I find a head that fits the custom screws I will take it one apart

One year warranty means nothing if they sell a flawed product. And in many countries design defects fall under different ruling than other stuff that only apply to minority of products sold. At least e-mail Gamers Nexus and see if they want to pay postage for those coolers. Will be good content.

Alright, thanks for all the answer guys. I decided to go with a galahad 240mm white and replace the fans on the radiator with 2 intake iCue sp120's

(Edit: if you still wanna talk about the broken aio, i ask for you to take the conversation to your DMs so we can close the thread)

Might be smarter to buy a cooler with rgb fans. Ek aio or Arctic liquid freezer 2 argb for example.

I won't throw them out and if GN does do anything on AIOs again I will contact them.
