I couldn’t find the security sub forum

Ok so my dad has recently bought a new house and while it is being renovated it is up to me to figure out a good security system, I’ve been looking around but can’t seem

to figure out what to do, can someone suggest a good security system?( from what I have been able to figure ubiquiti has some hardware and fyi I don’t have a budget so think of expensive things( as long as they are not overly expensive and justify their price)) I assume I would need a video doorbell and I already have one, but along with that I need a good camera system, is there a way i can get the ne which doesn’t store footage at the camera and will send it back to a centralised server( also u don’t want anything which has a subscription, I bought th w hardware and I shouldn’t have to pay 20 bucks a month to use it)

Imagine everything i have written in a Linus Voice/ linus tone (Spock live long and prosper gif here ,idk why tho, i guess i just want to say that i like star trek and am waiting for new seasons of the ongoing shows), But seriously, a lot of what i type only makes sense when said in a Linus tone from an older ltt video (circa 2017-2019 & now 2024-onwards) basically before he got a beard and a lot of it should make sense even in a Linus with a beard face.

also note as per the latest typing test on my laptop, my accuracy is 69%

I don't have any personal experience with it but ubiquity is probably one of the best at still decent prices.

They also don't store video 'in the camera' but on a server in your home. It's pretty much the best thing you can do because sending security details elsewhere is always... Unsecure.

They have a nice interface to watch the different streams, change camera settings etc. Ofc it's not cheap at like $200-300 for their 4k cameras and the storage server + switch isn't cheap either BUT it's pretty cool.

If you are OK with the price I second Ubiquiti, they have great UI and have been expanding their lineup to include things like video doorbells, you can mix and match a little bit, use a cheaper switch or cheaper cameras where they are less critical.

As boring as this may sound, the first thing I did when I bought my current house was check the state of all the locks on the doors and windows. With modern doors and window locks, you can practically turn your house into a vault. Depending on their age and state, they might be the easiest security upgrade you can get. That and the roller shutters that I use to keep the house cool in the summer, do a great job of protecting the bigger windows during the night.

Looks like I’ll do ubiquiti then, after going over their website some more it looks like a UDMp might be a good option along with some Poe injectors and this also let’s me do ubiquiti for my networking

I currently have a camera setup of 4 off brand cameras that aren't working properly, and was looking into getting new security cameras for my home too. Linus also recommended Ubiquity (if we want to go "ballers") or go for Wyze in the last WAN show. I am not sure if Wyze is available in India though. As for Ubi, I too am inclined to go there even though the price seems a tad high.

But, my main concern right now is the security of the camera system itself. Iirc, Ubi doesn't send my data to some random server which is great but is there anything else that we should keep in my mind. I remember someone saying that we should stay off from connecting the cameras to WIFI.
