I just moved and I had to leave my old TV behind. It was getting very long in the tooth anyways. I've narrowed it down to 3 that I like, but I can't make a final decision. My fiancée and I have a google-focused smarthome, a PS5, and are huge movie lovers. The 3 options are:

LG 55" A1 OLED, $1100

Samsung 75" AU800D LED, $649

TCL 75" R646 Mini-LED, $1199

Now, I'd like something bigger, but the OLED man. And then also, the Samsung went on sale at my local Sam's, and I'm not sure. Obviously it's a worse tv, I know that, but it is 75" and almost half the price of the others. Like, is the difference worth paying double? But also, the TCL is a Google TV and the only 120hz option.

rting is a great site for comparisons.

The Samsung seems like the odd man out in this section.

I've used samsung TVs only at home as monitors for my PC and they have worked great.

The TLC TV is capable of 4k 120Hz though which I think is pretty sweet...

And LG arguably has the best OLED panels, so yeah I would say just read the rtings reviews and decide 🙂

Well i mean u got 3 displays spanning 2 different 'tier's and 2 different panel technologies.

So.

Budget option is obviously the Samsung, its not good for HDR, or gaming. So imo that should not be considered if ur a movie buff and want to game on it.

The TCL on the other hand has a decent local dimming feature for good contrast for an LCD, and high brightness for HDR, the brightness also means its good for bright rooms. The 120hz feature is helpful for gaming but it is still a VA LCD so motion clarity wont be as good as IPS monitors or OLED.

The OLED is smaller, 'only' 60hz, and doesn't get as bright ..but. Its OLED, it doesnt need to get bright, u also wont have an problems with viewing angles which u will with the TCL. For console use i dont believe the 60hz limitation will matter much.

So i'd say its down to the environment ull be using it in. Is it bright ? , get the TCL, is it 'cozy' get the OLED.

Alternatively see if u cant find a deal on an older OLED model like the CX 55" or even 65". be careful of 'refurbished' OLEDs, ull want to check them in person for burn-in (if used as a display unit) and the 'time on' or 'time used' to get an idea of how much usage its had.
