Big performance boost? A few frames at best, I definitely wouldn't switch for the performance boost.

I would say stick with 7 the increase isn't huge on 8 maybe you can have some advantage when the new directx comes out because it wont work on 7 or something like that.

i think microsoft said win7 will support the directx12 fully.

To my knowledge, BF4 is the only game that receives a fps increase in Windows 8 vs. 7. If you're going to have to pay for the upgrade, I'd say it's not really worth it. If the gap between Windows 7 and Windows 8 is any indicator, we might be about 18 months away from Windows 9(or whatever they'll call it), possibly sooner considering the marketing issues Microsoft has had with it.

Nah man i never pay. And i will play a lot of battlefield so even those "few" or 10 frames will help.

Hi,

Because i don't like the shitty metro ui in win 8, afcourse theres programs that can replace the start button with a win 7 one.

They are exactly the same outside of 1 game. Battlefield 4. Few FPS faster in Win 8. If you have a Mantle Card? That performance gain is completely useless.

MS has said in an interview that Win 7 is getting DX 12, in which case it will be just as good for gaming. That said? I don't trust MS at all. I would buy Win 8 to be safe if owned neither OS.

It isn't that many of us hate 8, it's that one game in the entire world, and faster boot, isn't enough for us to upgrade.

If you already have 7? Reuse the key (as long as it is on one computer, tell the automated man on the phone 1 computer when you install it on the new machine). If you don't have 7? Buy 8.1. If MS pulls a 180 and keeps DX 12 off win 7 you lose 100 bucks. That would suck. If you have 7? I see no reason to not wait for 9 for gaming.

Spend the 100 bucks you would have upgrading 7 to 8 on a bigger video card. You will get a bigger FPS gain then you would in that one game.
