COM Surrogate Taking huge cpu usage and File explorer unresponsive?

like the title says, the COM surrogate opens up to system 32 when i click on it, file explorer is stuck on working on it for ever and i cant close it. please help

In short: COM Surrogate is most commonly used when Explorer extracts Thumbnails from files and documents/photos. It is ran this way as a separate container as to not literally crash Explorer from a bad thumbnail or misread data. If it is crashing alot, or is hung up, you simply have a bad or slightly corrupted file. This is also used in other manners by other programs

 

As the application is called, it is a surrogate (Dictionary: "Substitution") for COM (Component Object Models)

 

You are fine, and it is doing it's exact purpose. No need to close it as windows will open it up again

is there any way to fix the corrupted files? it has been like this for about an hour now
