What does supports up to 6000Mhz "(OC)" mean?

On the ASUS PRIME Z690-A Board it says it supports up to 6000Mhz "(OC)" DDR5 memory

Say I bought a 6000MHz stick, is it fine? That "OC" detail thing throws me off.

ASUS PRIME Z690-A

+

Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6000MHz CL36

Are those compatible? & What does it actually mean? Why not just say it supports up to "6000MHz"

Standard DDR5 "JEDEC" speeds is 4800 MT/s (MHz) - that is why they call the 6000 MT/s (MHz) OC, because you are actually enabling a OC profile for the RAM, to run the 6000 MT/s (MHz) speeds.

Yes they're compatible (You want to check the QVL to check things like that), but there's a reason it says "OC". The motherboard may be rated to run at those speeds, but your CPU isn't. Anything above 4800MHz isn't officially supported on an Alder Lake CPU, thus 6000MHz is an "OC".
