After hearing the cheap replacement Fans on my 970 being extra loud with no quiet mode, I'm now wishing there was more development towards high performance Fanless GPUs(and CPUs). Or at least midrange. If I take out or turn off my hearing aids this wouldn't be a problem. However I don't want a bunch of cops kicking down my door due to being for somebody hearing screaming kids/women when I'm watching...

So aside from using AIO Water Coolers, how possible is this?

I think getting a better air cooler or a water cooler are the only options. If it is that loud, I would assume it is a blower version. You can often get aftermarket coolers for them, which are the normal design

Two drop in Fans. But didn't come with any screws and I dropped two of them. Any aftermarket normal design coolers you advised?

if you already have the normal cooler design, if you want you can just zip tie some fans onto them, but I think you can google if people have done cooler swaps for that card, as some are compatible, some arent

I had to use two screws from the shroud itself. But these Fans are noisy anyway. The Heatsink itself? near where certain how to remove that with out damaging the Card.

Get better fans then. You dont have to stick with fans that fit the OG shroud, most cards let you take the shroud off while leaving the heatsink on the card. Then you can strap case fan(s) onto it with cable ties and power the fan either by the card or by motherboard/molex plug

Fanless coolers are developed but they are either huge or only good for cooling low end GPUs and CPUs. We're hitting the limit.for transistors here so the trend will be more.and more power draw from CPUs and GPUs, unless we find drastically new types of affordable computers

I would have to get some cable ties and bigger and quieter fans. Any fans you recommend?

On the cheaper side there's the Arctic P12, but I dont know if your card uses DC or PWM for speed control

Well it doesn't use Molex plugs but the three or four pin one. I have to look at one of my previous Amazon orders. This one:

If the connector on the card doesnt fit that of case fans, you'll have to use the motherboard.

I really don't see how its possible on decent cards.  Especially now that they appear to be creating a floor at 350-400W.  This is why I'm extremely picky about the fan design really good ones aren't all that loud.  Although even they are getting pushed too hard.  I've created a custom voltage curve on my 3080 that keeps it under about 300W with about the same performance and makes a pretty good difference in sound.  It still gets hot under the desk with at that... I had a blower fan under the desk the time I was mining.

NOTE: I normally play in an absolutely quiet room although I just got decent headphones

i mean gpus are already pretty silent,  most of them have zero fan mode + a very relaxed default fan curve. As much i don't like them, msi gaming x cards are super silent (they have good fan design)

And yes, theres always noctua. you could even attach the fans to a mobo header and have silent / zero fan mode this way.

yeap, half height 120mm noctuas (if they fit, otherwise 90mm... i did the math for my gpu, 3x90mm would fit iirc)

Not by my standards with the current line of cards.  With an EVGA Ultra 3080 anything above 250-300W is annoying to me out of the box. With custom voltage and fan curve I can handle about 325W (which has the same performance).  I've never had that problem before however my Strix 2080 was only a 215W card.  I would have got a Strix again but thought the $880 or so price tag was too high!  If I would have known how much of a deal the $784 for the EVGA was at the time!

You can also get an adapter cable like this to install 2x noctua fans and stil get zero rpm from the GPU. I got my GPU setup this way. Search for GPU to PWM fan. 🙂

If you want some cheap fans you can get arctic p12, they go from 200rpm, RGB version from 0.

More expensive options like noctua NF- p12, f12, a12
