Anime Club - Heaven Society

JLCitadel

Now I remember why I liked the Da Capo series...

Slice of life with some heavy supernatural stuff late in the game...

Edit: The drama also hits hard... but in a very different sense from what Key can write...

@eelnico09

I personally disliked the anime adaptation of it... Primula's and Nerine's routes were better than Asa's...

Kaede's route is also good...

Have you watched Kokoro Connect? You make Da Capo sound similar, and since Kokoro Connect is among my top 5 anime I guess you convinced me to try it.

Agree on Shuffle!

In the novel, all endings are "bad" in some way, except for Nerine's good end, which is also the foundation of the sequel. (Tick! Tack!)

Kaede also got a spin-off (Really? Really!)

Navel's naming schemes are mind blowing though....

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Yep Kokoro Connect is one of the "slice of life + supernatural" anime that I liked... Da Capo, however is less direct when it faces the supernatural (unless you're on the 2 main routes)...

I personally enjoyed Primula's route in Shuffle... Haven't got to play Tick!Tack! and Really?Really! yet...

The anime adaptation is a bit tedious to watch so go play the VN instead (30-50 hours)... I'm currently trying to complete Anzu's route in Da Capo II and Kotori's route in Da Capo simultaneously right now (because I reached the untranslated part of Dracu Riot and I don't feel like playing through Fortune Arterial again)...

Edit:

Also can anyone on here help me with safecopy on Kali? I'm trying to retrieve data off an old HDD with a broken file system...

Edit2:

The Da Capo VNs are not beginner friendly as it will bombard you with 3-5 route-altering choices per ingame day...

OK, will do when I finish re-reading Rewrite.

Hopefully it won't be like G-Senjou no Maou, which I read roughly 10 hours of like 5 years ago, then forgot all about it/ lost my progress and probably didn't want to restart. Then I installed it 2 years ago:

1-2 hours in: "does this look familiar?"

3-4 hours in: OMG this deja vu is really freaky right now

5 hours in: FML I've actually read this all before

Ended up reading it for like 5 hours before it finally clicked that I had done it before :P

I should get to playing that... It's been sitting in my HDD for over a year now...

theres also a 570(which from my knowledge performs about the same as a 760) for $70 and a 7870 for $75(i dont know what this one performs about the same as)

Nah that is more like the 580, the 570 is more like a 660/650ti

I wanted to watch Da Capo, but i couldn't even find it in better quality than 480p, and at less than that resolution i could barely read the subs.

Yeah i know, but i said it many times, since i didn't play the VN so i don't know. I have to say, primula was a character i wanted MC to end up with too. In fact, untill *girl that mc ends up with" shows up and gets some protagonism, i wanted primula to be the one.

Thing is, you disliked it because it was badly done, or because you just didn't like the route?

Uurgh... Trying to install new Nvidia's graphics drivers... Can't execute .run files as root... Also apparently any already existing driver that's older than 346.96 lacks OpenGL support... yay...

Have to quote @Vitalius from earlier:

here is no fglrx installed according to the xorg log:

Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so
...
[    16.120] (EE) open /dev/dri/card0: No such file or directory
etc. radeon is the code name for the open source driver but the device /dev/dri/card0 is not present (it should be created by the kernel's radeon driver).

Also if you installed fglrx packages other system libraries are overwritten (this is done before the driver compilation) so you most likely wont have 3d rendering. You will have to remove every package related to fglrx and reinstall the mesa packages (libgl1-mesa-dri and others like it) to come clean.

PS the Fury is new AFAIK and it might not have open source drivers in Jessie. You should install the latest kernel from backports (4.1 i think) and see if it works. But unfortunately mesa is oldish (10.3.x) in Jessie so the rendering might be off anyway.
PS2 The .deb fglrx doesnt always work. For me only the generic script worked from AMD's site consistently (its a while back since i use the git OSS driver for a long time).

I just want it to work.

If you'd like it to go faster ofc. Up to you.

I could seed faster than I could leech... Downloading limit is unlimited, uploading speed is ~100kB/s, but can't really seed any faster than I can leech... That is, pretty much the aforementioned 56k speeds, even with the 20/1 Mb/s connection.

I can wait...

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

I guess you guys probably heard the news already, but studio Manglobe (Ergo Proxy, Samurai champloo, Kami Nomi) are bankrupt. Gangsta only sold 1800 copies in the first week which I guess became the final nail in the coffin for them after struggling for a while.

There might be more bankruptcies before the year ends, because pretty much everything is selling worse than expected, the only show from summer season selling better than was expected of it at the moment is Working season 3.

No show sold more than 10k copies in the first week which is the first time in more than a decade afaik.

Rokka no Yuusha and Gakkou Gurashi, which have been THE talk around town in the western anime fanbase, sold ca. 550 and 1300 copies respectively, which is insanely low, fans of those can pretty much forget about a season 2 happening.

Jitsu wa Watashi Wa sold a pathetic 309 copies.

Those are good and bad news.

Bad because i don't wish anyone goes bankrupt.

Good because maybe they start making good anime again.

Jitsu wa sales didn't surprise me given that the fanbase it already had from the manga probably wasn't too fond of the adaptation. The humor was pretty good but I guess that's not really enough to override the relative staleness (enough to make it worth buying). Gakkou was interesting enough for me to want to get the manga for it.

Unfortunate for Manglobe, though kaminomi was a pile of shit IMO, the rest was decent and I hear Gansta isn't that bad either.

There is a bit of truth when people say Japan has really shit taste, and my god looking at the sales chart will make you cynical.

I also liked Kokoro connect. It's a shame it won't get a 2nd season because of the bullshit the producers pulled.

I don't think it needs one.

You watched the 4 ovas that are basically 4 episodes right? Someone said the same thing and didn't take the ovas as part of the story, and they are big time.

Damn, I liked Rokka no Yuusha. Guess I'll be reading the light novels from now on.

Really Japan? Really? All the shows I hear are good or are good (in my opinion) end up bombing it seems. So either I have shit taste, or Japan does, and with how the anime fandom over there sounds, I'm pretty sure it isn't me. For the most part, at least.

You know what's easier than buying and building a brand new PC? Petty larceny!
If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."

apparently market growth is still sluggish there, or maybe people are starting to phase out BD already.

I don't know anyone that buys BDs, but I don't know where else they get 1080p content without more flairs than MLG gameplay.

also they have a negative growth rate, maybe the children there are growing up now.

@Daegun it's a mix of both your shit taste and their shit taste. It's harder to get things to line up.

Well that was underwhelming...

Just completed Anzu's route on DCII... Looks like I have to play everything to get the complete picture...

Up next: Shirakawa Nanaka's route...

It's is lol. It's a parody.

With the way those things work, the spellcard would actually make sense when used with them...
