Microcenter and Frys are usually my go to. 

My personal rig - 4790k 4.8Ghz, Asus Z97 Pro (wi-fi ac), Corsair Dominator Plat 4x8GB, SLI GTX 1080 TI FE, Samsung 850 Evo 1TB, Crucial MX100 512GB, EVGA G3 1000W, and cooled by a hardline liquid cooling loop.

I live in Sacramento CA and going to Santa Cruz for vacation soon

Hey, you're actually 70 miles away from me! :D Well, not to many options in the Sacramento area other than a Fry's nearby. That one is on 4100 Northgate Blvd. There used to be a Microcenter in NorCal, in Santa Clara, but it damn shut down. I believe Best Buy does sell some graphics cards and hard drives and even PSUs in their stores.

The nearest micro center to me is about 40 minutes by car is it farther away than that?

I didn't know flash drives came that small the smallest I've seen is 2gbs

I still have a 256MB flash drive my dad forced me to use.
