trying to find my girlfriends PC's bottleneck...

kyliechan

so me and my gf i thought have pretty similar builds but she seems to really struggle with frame rates so ive been comparing specs but from everything i see she should be about on the same playing field as me but maybe i just dont know what im talking about anymore these days lol. anyways i figure id post her specs and mine and see if someone could help us. so these first 2 are her specs i know her cpu is a few gens older but being a ryzen 7 vs 5 figured would still be good and from my understanding her gpu is slightly better then mine.

anyways below are my stats

so here are a couple examples she plays dead by daylight on heres on the lowest settings and gets lag and frame drops and her GPU seems to be maxing out yet i can play it on the highest settings and the same with craftopia which i dont see as a very demanding game i play on the highest settings and hers on medium lags when theres several enemies on screen fighting at once. really hoping for some options to speed her pc up without a new gpu cause even my modest 1650 is being overcharged on newegg by $100 of what i payed a few months ago

Ryzen 1000 is getting to be pretty old at this point, so that could be what's causing her lag and frame drops, especially since an RX 580 should be a bit faster than a 1650 iirc. Zen 1 was still a decent bit behind in terms of pure gaming performance back when it was new, so it's not too surprising that it's not holding up as well today.

as much as id hate to tell her she needs an upgrade id much rather tell her she needs a new cpu and motherboard then a gpu right now

Wouldn't hurt to update drivers and bios. I see from the picture she's running a BIOS revision from 2018, the latest version is from 2021. She probably could update gpu drivers as well.
