Need help with my new i9 12900k -- been a while

marat569

So, I just bought the latest i9 12900k, and will like to finish the rig.

Some info: I game at 1080p, will be re-using all ssds and my 1080ti from old rig; location NYC/USA

Important: I highly prefer amazon due to their customer service, so even if something is 10$ more, I'll use amazon instead

So what I need help with are cases and PSUs mainly. I like a nice large spacious case, but I don't really care for RGB or tempered glass. I don't even see my rig, it's hidden on the floor.

I'll list some parts that I've found to think will fit the rig, and would like your input on if it will fit or what would be the better option

Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z690-P D4 LGA 1700 ( https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813119511 ) -- Nice 200$ mobo, no extra bells and whistles; don't need anything fancy; just get the job done + MUST BE ASUS (I like them)

Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 X 16GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C18 1.35V Desktop Memory - Black ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZPLM1R1/ ) -- nice fast 120$ ram; ddr5 is a nightmare at the moment so forget about that lol

Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix Liquid CPU Cooler - White (360mm) ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Q86DSTX/ ) -- I already ordered the standoff screws to fit the LGA1700 socket

Case(s) So there are two cases, idk which one. I'm not great with cable management. I just plug stuff in and shut the case door. "As long as it powers on we're good". I'll try to do some management this time around but we'll see what happens.

Note: I have sata 1 HDD + sata 2 SSDs; so that's all that needs to be fit; and the cooler -- also just overall spacious, simple (I dont see value in glass or RGB), and well actually somewhat good air flow.

Case 1: Cooler Master MasterBox TD500 Mesh Airflow ATX Mid-Tower with Polygonal Mesh Front Panel, Crystalline Tempered Glass, E-ATX up to 10.5", Three 120mm ARGB Lighting Fans ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0839Y7933/ )

Case 2: Corsair 5000D Airflow Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX PC Case - Black ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08M49WW51/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=&psc=1 )

Currently leaning more towards case 1. (Cooler Master)

PSU -- No PSU yet. Need you guys to help me out. Must be at least 1000 watts, 80+ bronze only + modular

I don't care of silver or whatever uses a dollar less energy per month. I don't see the value in silver+ coolers, so to make things civil lets forget they exist.

This is where I need your guys help! I can't decide on a PSU! Also if I'll need any "extension cables"

My current PSU is a 1000 watt semi-modular roswell, 1k watt 80+ bronze. Good PSU, just don't wanna re-use it since idk how much dust is collected in that thing.

Budget for this is 100-150$.

Thank you very much!

Edit: I found this PSU, what do you guys think: CORSAIR RMx Series (2021) RM1000x CP-9020201-NA 1000 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Edit 2: I'm not huge into tech, I don't know how stuff works -- just that "it works" -- so if you guys can help me out and double check "all the legos fit" (everything is compatible) that would be amazing ❤️

Thank you!

I edited in some corsair PSU a friend found to the main thread. Does this EVGA PSU have the "same number of wires" as the corsair one? As in are they the same thing, just branded differently?

Edit: I'm not really huge into tech, I just buy stuff and put it together.

What future are we set in??? Can I get one too?

I'd go with the RM1000x that you just added in your edit.

The RM1000X PSU is an excellent choice. Quiet and delivers very clean power. Although it offers significantly more capacity than needed.

It is available from Newegg at a good price https://www.newegg.com/corsair-rmx-series-rm1000x-cp-9020201-na-1000w/p/N82E16817139273?itemPosition=1-16&exactIndex=0.

Consider a Meshify 2 case. Available with a glass side panel https://www.amazon.com/Fractal-Design-FD-C-MES2A-03-Flexible-Tempered/dp/B0822ZD9NP/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=Meshify+2&qid=1638921489&sr=8-4 or without https://www.amazon.com/Fractal-Design-FD-C-MES2A-01-Flexible-Computer/dp/B0822Y6H34/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Meshify+2&qid=1638921489&sr=8-5

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I added the RM1000X to the main post, but now that a couple of people suggested it I'll prolly be going with it.

As for the Meshify, looks interesting. When I said "no glass" I was talking about the whole "tempered glass" stuff; I don't mind (and prefer) a good ole cheap plastic window.

Might be something to consider, added it to by cart for now!

Thank you!
