Entering game(s) with GPU in 0 fan mode, wtf!!

frozensun

My friends I almost had heartattack.

Just run the Cyberpunk and in OSD from Afterburner I noticed that GPU temp of my RTX 2080 S is 87 C...wtf??

I went to check the card and none of the fans were spinning.

This is second time happening.

Now I have created afterburner curve profile and the profile runs each time by default after booting into W10, but dunno what the hell is happening.

Though most of the time I apply the profile before running games but sometimes I forget to do it.

Third time it will damage the card.

Is it possible that Afterburner is messing something up with the card?

I also have checked in OSD of HWMonitor to display fans speed in game but I forgot to run HWMonitor before game.

Could that be an issue?

And want to know what is the worst thing it could happen when GPU core overheats?

does the GPU have like CPU option to shut down the card or PC?

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

Do the fans spin up when you apply defaults in AfterBurner?

Running the core too hot won't damage your card that fast, it will however start to throttle to keep temperatures within limits.

Not enabling this alongside of not properly adjusted curve and update period will result in that.

HWmonitor doesnt even have a OSD.

Unless your MSI Afterburner readout is using hwmonitor somehow through some voodoo magic, no.

Sorry not osd of hwmonitor.

There is an OSD tab in the software to display fan speed in OSD of the game.

It was not run at game start because I didn't launch HWMonitor.

Yes.

I just improvised the fault again.

I didn't run HWinfo and that is why fans didn't spin..

But what does HWInfo has to do with that..

MSI afterburner is auto running each time and I suppose preapplied profile with it .

The last 2 columns are from HWInfo.

I think but ain't sure that if I don't run HwInfo before launching game this issue happens.

But fan curve is set inside Afterburner not HWInfo so I'm confused.
