any tips on why my setup never runs optimal as its pretty high end?

1440p 144hz(primary)

everything is update and SAM is enabled, i upgraded from a 3080, and it almost seems worst.  I figure with my setup, 1440p games should run very well. but a lot of the time frames drop under 100.   I watched a few youtube videos and on MAX settings 1440p they are getting 150+   My settings are not maxed at all,  they are very basic actually.   The 2 games i mainly play are destiny 2 and Hunt Showdown.

another thing i noticed, when i dropped my settings down to 1080, my FPS didnt change.  (in hunt)

fresh reboot not much running the background, no chrome etc..

anyone have any input?

What's your CPU usage in games? Go to the by thread view and make sure you're not loading one core or thread way more than the rest.

When you got the 6900xt did you DDU the Nvidia drivers in safe mode? If not, try that.

Swapping to 1080p will load your CPU more. It'll be trying to tell the GPU what to do faster so loosing some frames would be expected if the 5600x is holding you back.

What cooler are you using? You might get some performance by enabling PBO and overclocking a bit.

In the YT videos, were they using the exact same set up? What speed RAM are you using and what were they using?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

yeah i ran DDU,   CPU runs low, liek 40% gpu can run at 100% but most of the time its around 60%.

stock cooler on the GPU and 240mm EVGA on the CPU.   I am running PBO and tweaked it.

not 100% sure about cpu/ram on the YT video, but i can not see  RAM dropping 50% of my frames. my ram is running at 3600mhz

Check thread usage. 5600x is a 6 core CPU. If one core is fully loaded and none of the others are being used, your computer will report 17% CPU usage.

Are temps staying cool?

What storage are you using? M.2, SSD, HDD etc. With you using 3600mhz, it's not going to make up a huge loss of frames with faster ram.

If you disable SAM, do you gain or lose FPS?

I'm taking off shortly for a long drive. Hopefully someone else comes and helps.
