Hold or Sell?

AX1200i finally gave up the ghost after 9 solid years of quality service. At one point was running tri-fire 7970s. Now, my 5950x and 2080 Super have been having random stability issues. It couldn't be my PSU,  could it? I brought home my oscilloscope and found 700mV of noise/ripple and hard dips into the low 11v range when running OCCT power stress test. Picked up a Seasonic ultra titanium 850w unit. Stumbled across the PSU tier list just now, and see that Seasonic isn't as good as it used to be? My AX1200i was warrantied out, and I just received my replacement today. They sent me a HX1200, due to the AX1200i being discontinued. No problem, though. My question is, should I be returning this Seasonic? It's maybe a month old at this point but I don't know if I should return it and use the HX1200 or if I should sell the HX1200, or if I should just keep the HX1200 in the closet?

They are good. It really comes down to specific PSU models at the end of the day. Some models are better. Because if you look at the list, you will see that many brands make top tiered supplies but not all of their power supplies are top tier.

Thanks for the reply. So far this unit has been fine. Naturally I wanted my AX1200i to work, but after 9 years and getting a free replacement, I really can't complain. I didn't even know it still had a warranty until someone said they have some ridiculous warranty. Sure enough, I was able to get a new one. But I didn't know until after I already installed the Seasonic unit.

Considering the teething issues with power spikes on certain 3000 series cards thats particulatly have hit seasonic and their OEM brands, honestly i would keep that corsair PSU just in case.

Yes, because HX1200 is better. Prime Titanium has issues with the latest high end GPUs. Once you upgrade your current GPU you run in these issues.

 

Corsair discontinued the Prime Titanium based AX Titanium because of these issues and the lack of Seasonic to resolve it.
