Looking for feedback on first PC build

Go to solution Solved by RONOTHAN##,

You're probably better off with the 5600X over the 3700X, it's cheaper and in basically everything but blender it's faster.

You should get a motherboard with BIOS flashback if you go for a 5600X. The MSI B550M Pro-VDH is a good example of a case that supports that.

3600MHz CL16 should be about 5% faster depending on the workload, and it only costs an extra $30 (~1% of the total cost of the system), even with RGB.

The WD SN550 is cheaper and higher performing than the 870 QVO.

Here's a parts list with all the suggestions given, plus it comes out a little cheaper.

Budget (including currency): $2000-3000 in Australian Dollars (AUD)

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cyberpunk, Far Cry 6, Need For Speed, sometimes Blender or Unity, and various IDEs such as CLion, PyCharm, CodeBlocks

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

This is my first PC build. Ive been planning the build for just over a year now, trying to learn over that time and revise my parts list. This is what I have come to now and I am planning on buying the parts within the next two weeks. I am also wondering if it is worthwhile investing in case fans, or will this setup provide enough airflow?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with Wraith Prism - $469
Motherboard: ASUS Prime B550M-K - $145
Memory: Team T-Force Dark Z 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz CL18 DDR4 - $219
SSD: Samsung 870 QVO 2.5in SATA SSD 1TB - $129

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM008 3.5in Hard Drive - $85
Case: Aerocool Mecha V2 ARGB Tempered Glass Case - $39
Power Supply: Corsair RM750x Gold Modular 750W Power Supply - $165

Graphics Card: ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti KO Gaming OC LHR 8GB - $1399
Total: $2650

Part Picker List (Not exact but as close as I could get it)

The board sucks balls cause vrms

Qvo ssds also suck balls cause sata and slow

Go for a 5800x instead of a 3700x or you could go intel and go for a 10700(f) or 11700(f)

Case also suck balls cause no airflow, looks as bad as an h510 for airflow

Though the rest of the build is fine, psu choice is solid

this looks really good! if you're planning on overclocking the cpu for extra performance, id recommend getting an aftermarket cooler like the hyper 212 if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a cpu cooler. i've never seen this case before and im sure you've done your research, so i would recommend getting another case fan at the very least for a 1 intake at the front and 1 exhaust at the back, where the intake is at the bottom cooling the gpu. the last thing i would say is to downgrade to a 600 watt power supply, as 750w is a bit overkill. Pc Builder (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0uAeNHLLuAovOTHI-aOZiQ) has a great series called Boost My Build and he recommends that when choosing out a power supply, go for one that is 1.5x the estimated wattage and refer to the psu tier list on the linus tech tips forum.

best of luck 🙂

It was really helpful, thanks a lot. I think im going to go with 600W PSU and some more fans as suggested. Thanks!
