How much does RAM improve the performance

This is the first time I'm upgrading something for my own laptop and I'm going to upgrade my 8GB RAM (4x2 and also 2gb of the ram is taken by the system) to 10GB RAM (4+8 sketch ball weird config because i only can access one of the slot), I'm wondering how much performance increase I can get or is it even worth upgrading

It depends if the RAM is a bottleneck and the speed of the RAM.

Hi fellow Indonesian,

So you want to upgrade 8GB to 10GB. Does that mean the 2GB is replaced by a 4GB? Because 4+8GB is 12GB. If it's 8GB to 10GB, the difference will be small. You will have just a little more headroom to multitask, for games there's not really a difference. It's going to be a difference only if you use higher RAM speed (higher mhz).

The system taking 2gb doesnt mean you should ignore it, it's taken by the iGPU.

Going from 8GB to 16GB is about 5% total gains if you're lucky.
RAM speed also matters, and what you do on the computer.

Dont expect it to do things any faster, it wont!

i would get a faster ram if: 1. i can access the second slot 2. my cpu is not maxed at 2400mhz, so i think getting a ram with the same speed would be a better option for me

as mentioned in my other reply 2400mhz is the fastest I can go, also some games im running requires 8gb as minimum specs and it runs but there's some slight lag and jittery here and there and I would assume more ram would fix that

Well then test it and see how little it matters.
Like i have done in the past. 😉

If you really want to make it faster put and SSD in there, if it hasnt already.
Besides that only option is to buy another notebook.

Not really, it does make all aplications and windows itself load waay faster.
Specialy since 5400RPM notebook drives are terribly slow.
