I just recently bought a ASUS R9-280x and I had a pew problems with it artifacting. I spent $40 to send it off and do an RMA which I was okay with to an extent considering I would be final able to use the card in the way it should have came originally. But this did not happen, when I received the card back after about two weeks of it being gone it was not fixed. It actually came back in worse condition then when I had sent it off ( aritfacting and I sent it off with the box it came in). When I got it back over next to the power connectors it seemed to be sticky in an area about the size of a fifty cent piece. It also smelled of Ramen noodles which to me seemed like someone was eating lunch and not being careful. The motherboard toward the end of the card was also slightly bent, and it was sent back in a regular box with out a static resistant bag and one small roll of bubble wrap. The back of the mother board of the card was touching the back side of the cardboard box. Since the problem with the card artifacting is not fixed I have to send it out again which will cost another $40. Should I take ASUS to small claims court and attempt to get my $80 back from the money that was spent that should not have had to be spent?

Can you not just return it to the retailer you bought it from?

Sounds like too much trouble going to court for $80. I suggest you contact ASUS and act hella pissed.

If you bought it off of newegg give it a horrid review it'll catch the eyes of the ASUS PR guy that looks through reviews there. Make sure your thorough and cover all points you want to get across.

I had the same artifacting problem with two separate ASUS cards. DCII 7970 artifacting like crazy even after downclocking to reference speeds. Returned it to frys & bought the ASUS Matrix Platinum r9 280x and same shit. Artifacting like crazy unless clocked 100MHz BELOW reference speeds. And that was their hand-picked top of the line 280x. Sent that one straight back to newegg.

Not sure if it's just a problem with the ASUS cards or what, but I heard horror stories about their RMA process so didn't even bother.

Finally got an EVGA GTX 770 and liked it so much I bought a 2nd :D

Edit: This is what was happening with the 7970. Same story with the 280x

Just look at those reviews. 28% 1-star reviews. Jesus. Looks like EVERYONE had problems with that card not just me.

That's why I use EVGA.

nope. ive heard my fair share of bad experiences from every company. shit happens, lifes a bitch and so is karma.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only a GTX 1080, just a single 1080, where my glorious PC once stood....

In my opinion the RMA process is still faster than Asus anyways, good reputation is a good reputation. Not necessarily saying Asus products are bad, I've used Asus MBs with 0 problems, but some of my friends don't like the whole RMA process with Asus.

Yes, and just to clarify even more, I have never had any problems with any Asus products I've used in the past. It's just the RMA process I fear... just... in case.
