LTT's tech stack

Go to solution Solved by pythonmegapixel,

The forum is Invision Community which is just an off-the-shelf forum system which uses PHP/MySQL, presumably on top of some kind of Linux.

Similarly, LTTstore is just a Shopify store. Not sure what stack Shopify uses but you might be able to find out using StackShare (or something like that)

What tech/stack does ltt use for lttstore, forums, website and floatplane.

By that, I am referring to their hosting, web stack etc. etc.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

And floatplane?

iirc, it was custom built with nodejs in the backend.

It is a custom platform built in-house. Frontend is built on React, CSS/SCSS. They use REST API.

Backend is built on top of Node.js (TypeScript or maybe JavaScript).

Based on some searching around, my guesses (and just guesses) are:

- they use Sails ORM on the backend

- run numerous services in a Kubernetes cluster (at some point they used OVH, but not sure anymore)

- images are hosted in Amazon S3

- all the traffic is proxied through Cloudflare

- PayPal and Stripe for all the billing

Ah, just one last thing. Where is the video transcode taking place? On AWS?

Hm. I haven't seen that many sites with sails as of late. Many are switching over to typeorm. What are the key differences between the two?

Both forum and FP are confirmed to be hosted on OVH.

I remember Luke saying AWS and such were WAY too expensive so I'd expect they have their own boxes in leased rack space for that...
