Streaming games from office gaming pc to livingroom tv?

dlsgrd

Hi everyone.

I hope this is the correct sub forum for this topic.

I am moving to a new apartment soon and have decided to do a nice setup with my gaming pc, including being able to use it to play games with controller on my living room pc. I would very much like some inputs on how to do this in the best way.

MY pc will be in a smaller room adjacent to my living room, and about 10-15 meters from my TV. I have previously tried with the steam link app, however it was very choppy, and the bluetooth controller had a hard time reaching.

I have considered running a displayport, and a usb hub all the way but it seems very sub-optimal to me. Also someone told me that i might be able to run everything through an ethernet cable. I have heard about this nvidia device that might help me, but i dont know much about what it does. As i understood is it pretty much just fancy chromecast. Any recommendations is very much appreciated!

Cheers!

You can just sign into Steam on both devices and it automagically lets you stream games from one device to another, no need for any other devices or software. As for the controller, it should be connected to the living room PC, not the host.

Edit - Just tested it, it works flawlessly streaming MSFS from my Linux desktop (game is even running in Proton) to my Windows laptop. As long as the games are installed on the host you just sign into the same Steam account on the client and the game will show as playable from the host. Obvs both are on the same local network 🙂
