When power goes out, laptop shuts off.

I have an Asus Vivobook 15 laptop and it's about 2 months old. More times than not, the laptop will shut down when the power goes out when the battery should take over and prevent that. The battery does work and power options doesn't seem to have anything pertaining to that. What causes this and how would I stop it? Thank you for any replies.

Try putting the laptop on a surge protecter? Does it shut off if you unplug it normally?

I can pull the power and it'll stay on and it is on a surge protector.
