stuttering issue with 3070 plz help

auilzy

hi I have been having an issue for the past two months and cant figure out why my pc keeps stuttering with high fps i play games such as destiny 2 gta 5 and blood hunt and in all those games i keep getting micro stutters with high fps every setting i have on the games are run on low settings and i have done a ddu reinstalled windows, my temps are fine never go over 58 on cpu or 65 on gpu.

i have an rtx 3070 asus ko oc edditon and did not have this problem until recently. At first the problem would be me stuttering bad over and over with music on then i upgraded ram and now have micro stutters but this never happened when i was playing warzone. I left that game and now are having the problem some of my other games.

Specs:

msi z490 -a pro mother board,
RTX 3070
i7-10700K
3600 mghz 32 gb ram,
NZXT AIO
750 w corsair rated bronze psu.

I had upgraded my psu from a 650 gigabyte psu and it lowered the amount of stuttering but still happens somewhat frequent. other than the psu the only thing i changed from warzone was the cooler for cpu from an air cooler to the nxzt aio. any advice would help me out. my windows is on a ssd too btw.

Running with XMP enabled or disabled?

It is an option in the BIOS.

Did you do the DDU in Safe Mode? There is a Ton of times Jaystwocents said it in his Videos. In one of his recent ones I believe he explained it quite well. Better than I could right now. Other than that I honestly know too little and don't want to give misleading advice or such. Could you give us some more Details like what resolution you're running?

Yes DDU can help in a lot of instances but regarding Jays video some he said isn't really true anymore. My secondary machine has 6 years worth of NVIDIA driver updates on it (I never used DDU or anything like it) and I still have the same GPU performance I had when I built it. If you have GPU related issues using DDU is a pretty good idea but in my experience installing driver updates do not degrade performance at all which contradicts what he said in his last video.

What RTX 3070 do you have? FoundersEdition? How many separate PCIe Power cables are you using?

Sorry, just realized you stated that in you first post. Good.

Also please use the quote function so we can see when you answer.

Is the Ram in the right slots?

Are there still stutters if you run your games on high or ultra settings?

Have you tried any benchmarks like 3DMark TimeSpy or Heaven?

Could be that your problem is CPU or RAM if using higher settings makes it better.

Gonna ask again:

Have you tried any benchmarks like 3DMark TimeSpy or so?

If not please do so.

No. You can get the 3D Mark Demo for free on Steam which is all you need.

As you can see your overall score is pretty much average which is OK.

Your CPU score is a bit low. The average for an i7-10700 is ~10100.

By the way you posted you have an 10700K but 3D Mark says its a non K.

Your GPU score is about where the 3070 averages and actually a few points lower than that which is probably because of your CPU.

So If anything I would start with your CPU and RAM which seem to be the issue.

Can you post the link to that score?

watching that whole benchmark it did not stutter but it dose in games like warzone and destiny

The bench mark only stutters when you reach a limit like an overclock hitting the power limited on a GPU or thermal throttling CPUs.

I have several 30 series cards now and they tend to stutter a lot more than the 20 series did. I get around it by using VRR.

I am limited to the refresh rate of my monitor/TV but I don't find it an issue.

I do see it when I am doing game benching with VRR off.

Variable refresh rate. I would also use v-sync or cap your frame rate to monitor refresh.

Good luck.

Like others said the benchmark normally doesn't stutter especially with hardware on that level.

Warzone seems like the biggest stutter fest based on forum posts (haven't played it myself).

Like I said it seems like your CPU is most likely responsible for the stutters based on the information I have. Try running your games on higher settings.

Also a few things that might help setting windows to max performance and turning threaded optimization on in the NVIDIA control panel.

I don't have experience with 20 series cards but compared to my 980ti I did not make the same observation. In my experience the stutters did not increase with 30 series. In games I never had stutters with my 980ti I also don't have stutters with the 3080ti. In Games that had stutters on my 980ti (only Unreal Engine games) those are also present with the 30 series card but a lot more noticeable because of the overall higher FPS.
