macro keys for ubuntu

i want to make a macro keyboard for my ubuntu  pc that i use for my engineering and programming studies so can somone give me any reliabe way to make a normal keyboard, a macro keyboard.

i have an old just woring keyboard so i thought to make it a macro keyboard for using in vs code. any video or website tutorial will help a lot?

i saw Terrans keyboard method for making a dedicated macro keyboard that can work with almost any keyboard with the Hasu usb controller but i couldn't do that on my ubuntu desktop. so is there any way to do that on linux??? any better linux turorial.???? please let me know
