PS5 w/ Monitor Audio Output (HELP)

tbone_9022

Hi LTT Forums,

I have recently purchased a PS5 and have had the following desktop speakers and gaming monitor for some time:

 - Speakers: Logitech Z623 2.1 Channel

 - Monitor: LG 27GL83A 27" QHD 144Hz IPS 1ms Gaming Monitor

My issue is, the audio quality when using a 3.5mm jack to connect the Z623 to my monitor is extremely poor (PS5 > HDMI > Monitor > 3.5mm Jack > Speakers). Now the audio output on the back of the monitor is 'Headphone Out' not 'Line Out', so I can only presume the lower input impedance on the headphone out 3.5mm output is affecting the audio output quality overall. Is there any way that I am able to have my PS5 audio come through my speakers without loss in audio quality? The only work around I have found so far is plugging the 3.5mm jack from the speakers into the PS5 controller headphone jack which works but is highly inconvenient.

Any help is more than appreciated.

Tom

The right way would be to get a proper big fat receiver. The slightly more rational way would be an HDMI+Audio splitter box.
