Nope. If you're lucky then CrossFire. OProbably need same model/maker. My signature..

Bit of an edit: I read RX 580, not what was written - GTX 580

So SLI is possible.

What? Yes you can.

SLI is technically nVidia/3dfx tech, that's a bit of a curve ball.

But if cards have same video memory, then CrossFire might be possible afaik.

As the example was with AMD cards....

Yeah, I'm not sure why you're getting some No's, back in the day I absolutely SLI'ed GTX cards from different brands, they just need to be the same card. Never had an issue.

What are you talking about?

OP's talking about two GTX 580s from different board partners (ie. MSI and EVGA). GPU is still Nvidia in both cases, Crossfire is completely irrelevant here.

EDIT: Also, Crossfire doesn't require the video memory to be the same, nor even the GPU, only that it's in the same family.

So long as your motherboard supports SLI it should work.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

I am mistaken, I read RX 580.

So yeah, all my points were wrong.

My defence - I just bought 1440p monitor - all the text is quite a bit smaller.

@adarw To clear up any confusion from the first two no's.

Provided your motherboard supports SLI, you can SLI two cards together if they have the same GPU (ie. GTX 580) and matching VRAM capacity (speed doesn't have to be the same). Brand, cooler style, clockspeed etc. doesn't matter.

It's worth noting that not all Nvidia GPUs support SLI, nor do all motherboards. So if you have a specific combination in mind, best to double check or ask in another thread to confirm everything supports it.

I think its probably worth bringing up but you're not hoping to increase performance in modern games, are you?

This is like a retro build?
