How to backup an external ssd to an external hdd

Michael Kitas

Hello, I have an ssd that I store data that I don't on my computer. Just to be secure I bought a 4tb external hard drive and I backup there my computer using File History.

Now I also want to backup my external ssd there as well

Both are connected on my pc 24/7

Any ideas on how to do that? Also is File History recommended for pc backup?

Well, personally I dont think File history is good enough..

You'd be better off manually choosing folders you need backup of and use a Mirroring software that checks for any addition in the original and applies it to the backup.

Okay, what about the ssd, how can I backup everything there, any programs you recommend. (The ssd is not my computer, it's just a secondary ssd)

Copy/paste from time to time?

Or if automatic and they're always the same drive letters, create a robocopy command and use the Windows task scheduler.

Is there something like FileHistory but for secondary drives?

Well, you can use the software to create mirror image on the SSD too?

I use something called FreeFileSync to backup my phone images to my computer. Whenever I connect my phone and launch it, it checks for new files and adds them to the folder. It is very easy and has many options which I have not touched. Give it a try.
