PCIE Gen 4 Question

Go to solution Solved by Jurrunio,

Yes. The CPU supplies 20 lanes to the GPU (16) and a NVMe drive (4), X570 can give another 4 to the last drive. Note that the lanes from  the chipset is shared with other devices connected through it to the CPU, which includes some USB, SATA ports and more so the speed limit here is a bit lower than lanes directly from the CPU. Not that PCIe drives today hit that limit, but it's something to keep in mind.

Looking at a sff build, would an itx X570 gigabyte aorus pro wifi be able to accomodate a rtx 3080 and 2 nvme drives all at pcie 4 on all lanes? Im having trouble figuring it out by just google search after google search,

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Assuming you are using a Ryzen 3000 or 5000 CPU (excluding the 3200G and 3400G), yes.

Zen 2 and Zen 3 CPU's have PCIe 4.0 lanes, for the PCIe slot and first M.2 slot (the one on the front with the cooler). The X570 chipset (in combination with a Zen 2/3 CPU) has additional PCIe 4.0 lanes for the second M.2 slot (the one on the back).
