Atx cable question.

Hida_Oni

I have asus rog strix b550-f gaming (wi-fi) mb, it have 24pin (and on the side additional 8 and 4 pin power), on the psu i sent to exchange (corsair-rm750i) was 18pin+10pin on psu itself, and single cable with 24pin connector to mb and 18pin+10pin to psu, my old psu came with just single connector cable in to mb and psu. My new ordered psu cooler-master-v850-gold-v2 are same as corsair, it have 18pin and 10pin on psu, and its cable also like on corsair with  24pin to mb and with 18+10pin on the end that connected to psu.
So my question are: I connect 24pin to mb, and do i need to plug in BOTH (18+10) ends to psu? Also why they made it as two connectors, isn't it easier to have just one ?

You didn't mean to use the Corsair cable for the Cooler Master, right?

You can fry M/B. 😇

My bad English 😞

I asked you if you used the Corsair cable for the cooler master PSU.

It is only safe to use cables supplied with the PSU or cables that have been verified to be compatible.

The pinout on the PSUs is different, you CANNOT use the one cable for a different brand just because it breaks out into the same cable size on the back, you WILL fry your parts if you use a corsair cable on a non-cosrair PSU. Or am I understanding wrong?

It's 24pin, not 25

Yes, it won't work otherwise.

The more pins on the connector, the harder it is to unplug it.
A 28 pin connector would be a nightmare to unplug.

You have to have both plugged in.  And they make it two instead of one because it's actually EASIER than just one.

You do realize the higher the number, the thinner the wire, right?

they have same (more or less) thickness, except corsair ones are hard sleeved

few more questions, normally people say that different psu can't use each other cables, but some companies sell custom cables, and write that they compatible with any psu, how so?

They're more than likely just extensions and not replacement cables.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

They don't say that works on all CM PSU. That's why you have to specify your PSU model on the page. They say they make them for all CM psus.
