My dell laptop is not updating. The firmware update shows download error and while shutting down the computer, it tries to update but it fails.

The firmware update shows download error and while shutting down the computer, it tries to update but it fails. The keyboard doesn't work in windows apps but works in other apps.

Maybe try through one of Dell's update programs? Should've come preinstalled. I have had problems with this in the past. Especially with Windows update it typically resolved itself after trying to update multiple times for some reason. Perhaps some dependencies that it needs incrementally; not entirely sure.
