Hello!

I thought it would be a good idea to purchase some SAS drives and a LSI controller to add cheap storage to my PC. The good idea turned out to be a rubbish one.

The first controller I got sometimes was seen on the boot screen and when it was booted the drives were showing as wrong type

The second controller didn't show anyway

The third controller showed in bios, managed to update to IT mode and did actually see drives in the disk management in windows but couldn't initialise...

I thought this should be straight forward, I know my way around a PC both software and hardware but nothing seems to work.

Ideally I would like some advise on how to get SAS drives into windows 10 as regular drives, no raid. The storage is temp storage so not critical

Anyone know of a good controller card?

TBH I am at the stage of re-selling all the kit on ebay and just purchasing SATA drives...

The 2TB SAS drives were cheap and my issue is I don't know which bits are maybe dead or just me not knowing enough

Many thanks
