CPU settling at just above 40°C in bios, is this hot?

b51015

While playing with the fan curve in BIOS I noticed CPU temp settling at 40-44 °C at 30-40% fan speed. Admittedly CPU temp was already at 40 when I entered BIOS, but after 10-20 min 4X°C !

It’s my first build and I had a Mac mini previously so I’m not sure what’s normal. I’m worried about not spotting a plastic peal on my NH-U12A or does it ship with a plastic cover only now a day, I assumed so…

Thanks for any experience shared beforehand !!! ^_^

edit: so u don’t need to click my profile:

- CPU: RYZEN 9 5900X

- Cooler: NH-U12A

- Case: Fractal Meshify 2 C w/stock fans (3)

- Motherboard: AORUS b550 pro v2

That should be the relevant components

idle at just below 40°C in Linux (manjaro xfce)

shoots up to 6X°C when starting a virtual machine and quickly back to idle

Seems like fine temp to me if it isn't hitting 80-90C in a benchmark i wouldn't worry.

I’ll probably have to come back when I have temps for more sustained loads.

If anyone knows about the plastic peal situation on nh-u12a it would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help CookieKittu and LIGISTX

Just run OCCT on it and you'll find out really quick.

I think power management features don't work well in bios. What's your ambient temp

Should be around 20-25

edit: I answered on autopilot, that’s winter temperatures, can get 30+ in summer. Yesterday was 29 or so.

Mine also runs around that even in bios, that's fine.

Our amd 5000's pump out a lot of heat even on idle im afraid.
