should I get a 3700x or a 5600x

I really want to play beamng drive and I know that the 5600x is cheaper but Im wondering if the price differnce and the zen 3 are a good enough tradeoff in performance delivered by the extra cores and extra threads offered by the 3700x plus the recomended cpu for beamng is a ryzen 1700

Just now, adarw said:

the 5600x is better and gives more fps. unless you need things that use multicore buy the 5600x.

BeamNG can actually make use of more cores for its physics engine. However the 5600x has faster single core speed, which is an advantage for anything that doesn't necessarily scale up to 8 cores (i.e. most other games).

You'd have to look at some benchmarks if the additional cores outweigh the faster performance of the 5600x in this particular case.

The 5600X is a faster gaming CPU now and will be in the future. Any advantage the 2 extra cores of the 3700X bring will easily be overcome with the faster cores of the 5600X.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Another vote here for the 5600x. I just recently bought one and love to play BeamNG. Runs great and drastically increased the number of traffic AI vehicles I can run before frame rates tank.
