I am surprised that they don't just try to use the pixels in the LCD to try to compensate for the blooming. Maybe they do, I don't know. Though, I do suspect that such can likely lead to other artefacts and potential unevenness among other subtle issues, but maybe it is a worth while trade. Or it is just "too computationally intensive" to do live. (This would though obviously not fix blooming issues around very dark objects that can't dim the LCD pixels sufficiently to compensate.)

I am glad to see they uploaded something about this monitor today finally 🙂  would also love a full on review but after seeing that samsung had announced this new version it felt like more than coincidence lol...  I had just started thinking about upgrading from currently a  single to a dual display setup or at least a big single etc... I immediately went to shopping for the original but when saw the neo i was extremely glad to have had waited to get something like this to begin with, at beginning of this year, (i recently came back to the masterace from consoles exclusively) even with the price being a huge thought to consider i am still thinking i am goin to go ahead and take the plunge and get one of these to round out my dream gaming setup which at the moment is a asus rog strix z490 mobo with a 10900k and a rtx 3080 with 64gb of gskill trident neo ram.

edit: 4:57 - Nipple-style navigation.. That thing has a tendency to partly die off on the G5 and the G7.. Which i both own 🙃

I also drive a volvo as one does being norwegian haha, a volvo v70 d3 from 2016.

Reliability was a key thing and its my second car, working pretty well for its 6 years age xD

Sorry but I'm a LG loyal. For me if I was shopping in the 49 inch size I'd get the LG 49WL95C-WE. It's not targeted at gaming specifically and it does only run at 60Hz, but it IS stackable and has their dual controller tech built in. The first one means that you can get a crazy 5Kx3K desktop with just a slim break in the middle. The other feature allows you to hook up TWO balls-to-the-wall systems and control them with just a single keyboard and mouse. Forget multitasking - that's MEGA tasking like a boss.

 

For a pure gaming monitor I'd have to go with the LG 38GL950G-B. I'm already at home with 3440x1400 displays so upgrading to the bigger 3840x1600 would bring some very nice benefits and be especially useful for non-gaming work as well.

 

Arguing that gear like this is "out of stock" is one thing, but even if they were available, your pushing $1800 for just a gaming monitor and right on 3 grand for a pair of 49 inchers. For that kind of money I demand quality. My current monitor has been running for 7 years now, and in that time I've only had to send it in once where they did a board swap. The display is still perfect, I have no dead pixels and the backlight is still going strong. Now if Samsung can match LG for quality there would be an argument for me to consider their monitors. Specs alone aren't enough, especially if what you've paid for becomes a throwaway after 4 short years.

The 2000 nit spec is only partly true. Most of the time it peaks at 1000-600 nits. If you want to find out the specifics have a look at the HDR section in this video: (13:45 - 20:45)
