How do you guys test a new HDD?

ZombieKohhi

I am getting a new HDD and want to test it to make sure everything is working properly before I actually put it to use. What are some of the programs everyone here uses? Thanks 🙂

As someone with 200+ hdds, I don't do testing on initial use. DOA rate is pretty low, and if something funny is happening, is just rma or swap out the hdd. When I need to test a hdd I normally use badblocks, but that can take days on a new hdd its not worth it.

I plug it in, if it works it works.

Basically the same as what @Electronics Wizardy said.

You dont. If it boots, it boots. SSD is so stupendously fast compared to HDD its not worth it to test their speed nowadays.
