should i upgrade my mobo?

the mobo i have is really basic and im wondering if i should upgrade it.

my current mobo is a gigabyte b450m ds3h and its ok but idk if i should keep it or upgrade.

im looking at an asus b550-f strix for $178 usd and its alot better than the ds3h.

https://www.newegg.com/asus-rog-strix-b550-f-gaming/p/N82E16813119312?Description=b550f%20strix&cm_re=b550f_strix-_-13-119-312-_-Product&quicklink=true

it still works, it handled my r5 2600 for about a year and a half, and i got a 5600x last month and it has worked fine. but i know im missing out on some stuff and also future compatibility with my cheap mobo.

It's unlikely that there will be any more am4 cpus. Would recommend checking buildzoids thoughts on mobos if you feel you must upgrade (Youtube channel Actually hardcore overclocking)

Amphere doesn’t run pcie4 iirc.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Don't waste money. Save it for the next socket and upgrade everything

Hell I'm using a i7 9700f/Rtx 2070 super at 1440p still. I wanted to upgrade but really don't need to, I started putting money up for the next socket upgrade

Doesn’t make what he said wrong.  Might have intended to upgrade to that but jumped the gun or something. I added mine somewhat randomly long ago immediately upon discovering that the option existed. I keep on intending to change or remove it but I never seem to get around to it.  Even if it is intentional crap it doesn’t make the advice false in this instance. I don’t recall the board being bad.  I’ve got an ancient z95 motherboard and there are ports I wish it had like UsbC but I get along fine with adaptors and stuff.  The only thing I’m truly and totally locked out of is thunderbolt. I’ve even got an m.2 port, (only 1 and I didn’t even know what it was till recently) though I don’t know what key it is. I wind up with some weirdly occasionally handy stuff too like ps/2 and I think there is even some ide on there somewhere though actually using it might create problems.  I suspect the first thing that is truly going to screw me is win11, and even if it does it was still a pretty good run.

I've had signatures turned off on my screen for a while now so I don't even see it. I was running the 10850k with  rtx 3070. I sold that rig months ago for $2k, someone offered me $1200 for my 3070 so I sold it then sold the rest of the pc for $800 to someone I know

Sig is updated now
