Linux coolbits not working as rootless xorg

I have a problem with my 2070 on Manjaro. I have set the coolbits correctly, yet I am unable to edit the fancurve. However, if I change to a virtual console, and start xorg as root, it works perfectly.

How can I solve this? How is it possible to run xorg rootless AND use coolbits?

It only works (if you use the latest kernel and driver), if you run the xserver as root. Otherwise it doesn't work. And this is the problem I would like to solve. I don't want to run xserver as root, yet I want control over my GPU

Thanks and sorry, I was actually want to ask how he set it. Which config did he edit or did he create a new one or use nvidia-xconfig cmd.

Did you edit /etc/X11/mhwd.d/nvidia.conf and added the option yourself or you used nvidia-xconfig? Mine only work if i edit that file.

I have added the coolbits option to the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.

The nvidia-xconfig tool adds the option to the screen, not to device.
