So I recently bought a 3600 (got a very good deal) and i have a question. For gaming performance, is a 3600 or my current 2700X going to be the better option?

I think the 3600 is better, but still it's not that much away from R7 2700X.

3600 is outperforming the 2700X in some games to like 10-15 FPS max.

R7 2700X have more cores and threads (8/16) than R5 3600 (6/12) and it could help in graphic design or video editing.

So my main stand is - R5 3600 is better when it come to gaming

Zen 2 was a good upgrade for performance in gaming, so the 3600 will perform better in that particular application. If I were you, I'd play musical CPUs and trade the 3600 for the 2700X, then move the 2700X to the HTPC, and then sell that 1600 on eBay. The Ryzen 5 1600 is going for $100+ used right now, which isn't a good value for buyers, but would be a nice chunk of change for you.
