Help with install of 5800x

Need help replacing my 3600 to a 5800x.

specs are as followed that I have now.
cpus: 3600-5800x

mobo: strix b550-i

gpu: 4070ti gigabyte

psu: thermal take 750watt

two m.2 Samsung drives

ram: 32 gb kit of Kingston 3200 speeds (2 16gb sticks)

so to start off with got used cpu(5800x). Was said to be good and working. (Paid 140 used for it. Not bad at all)

double checked my mobo box, says Ryzen 5000 ready. So installed the 5800x into board. Black screen, pc won’t post at all. Aio cooler rgb comes on. Fans spin, all the Jazz saying that pc has power and such.

orange blinking light on for dram it says via QLED lights on mobo. Blinking every 2secs. I did the following to try to get it to work.

Reseated cpu about 10 tens

reseated both rams sticks, tried one in at a time with both of them.
tried without ram in as well. Nothing. Still same blinking light.

stuck back in old cpu. Went straight to post. Bios screen then windows. Easy peasy.

went to bios. Said it was older bios for the board, like second ever bios for the board. So I flashed via usb stick(fat32) format. Picked latest bios version and flashed via ez flash in bios.

mobo is reading correct latest bios.
still doesn’t post with the 5800x and when installing the old cpu. It goes back into windows fine but stutters badly in just windows and loading up apps. In game will get about 1 frame and can’t play anything.
sitting in discord it will skyrocket usage up to 100% and start to stutter and almost lag out of discord audio. Internet is good and steady.
gpu is ran with a pcie 3 extension cable as case is itx case.

haven’t tried to pull everything out and try it with gpu plugged straight into board yet. Will do today.

really want to get the 5800x to work since I did spend money on it. It’s not a crazy increase in performance but a little bump. Mainly wanted for the 2 more cores and such.

but looking for any insight and help through this. Even if I have to stick with the 3600. Just want to be able to go back to gaming at 200fps plus again. This set up shouldn’t be doing 1fps in game. It wasn’t before pulling the cpu out.

Updating the BIOS should have corrected the incompatibilty with 5800X CPU, but now even your old 3600 don't really work, so something's wrong

Did you check for bent pins on the CPUs ? All that reseatings may have damaged the pins

before uninstalling 3600, did you try uninstalling the CPU's drivers?

No I haven’t tried to uninstall the drivers. I figured with bios update and cmos reset would clear them.

Both cpus pins are still straight as can be. I am very paranoid and seated them in without close the latch about four times per cpu to insure they are seated correctly. After seatings I even checked the pins as well.

cmos reset clears Motherboard settings and BIOS is is stored on one of the motherboard's chips

Like stated before, clear the cmos.

Then with only the boot drive plugged, boot up the pc, then install the new chipset drivers and stuff.

If everything works fine now, then shut everything down, clear the cmos again and install the new cpu. Give it some time for windows to do its thing if you maket that far, then install the new drivers again.

If you still cannot post with the new cpu, then the cpu is most likely borked and return it for your money back.
