If you're even using the page file, things are already broke.

Nope, It won`t do any good to your performance. You should have a page file the same size of your ram.

Pagefile is only used when the pc is on heavy loads, when the ram has a lot of cache . Increasing the page file size could cause serious issues. You should be okay with increasing the page file's size if you have a fast enough hard drive or ssd. Im not recommending it cause I actually did it and I had to reinstall windows to stop the crashing.
