Is this illegal?

Bratstech

I recently got a Galaxy a11 from my dad as I wanted to use it as a media device for stuff like music. Well I recently tweeted them my issues that the device would not let me connect to wifi. No matter what I did. The device is not activated but did have an active plan. Basically what they are doing is bricking your already bought device. Constant full screen pop ups to activate it have been happening too.

Huh...

have you tried to open system recovery and system recovery? This will not cancel your plan

It's usually turning on by boot, PWR + VOL UP or VOL DOWN on boot

and VOL UP is MENU UP

and VOL DOWN is MENU DOWN

and PWR is SELECT OPTION

How long was it activated for? From what I have seen the budget carriers like Boost often have terms that the phone needs to be activated for a certain amount of time, such as 1 or 2 months. Try to find the terms and conditions that applied when the phone was bought. If the phone was indeed activated for the amount of time required, contact their support as something likely got screwed up. If it was not activated for the specified amount of time, well I don't think there's much you can do other than activating and using it for at least the minimum time.

if they destroyed the device? then there is often some kind of EULA that says they have no part in that.

That recover the phone or whatever else, although intentionally destroy something can be seen as malicious intent.

If it's not destroyed anything and being a software annoyance with not accepting stuff, then is just something to sort out or not using them for being horrible to deal with. Where they could make something intentionally harder software wise, to uninstall or change, like awfull bloatware.

It's not illegal. If you buy a prepaid device from them, and it's in any way subsidized, they can ask that you carry out a certain term of paid service. Much like you would with a monthly carrier plan if you get a subsidized device through them.
