Thoughts on the Bose Companion 2 Series III?

BondiBlue

I'm considering getting these speakers. Any thoughts about them? I don't need anything fancy, just decent desktop audio.

They've been around for ages and are well reviewed. I've fiddled with them when physical Bose stores were still a thing and they have really good build quality as well. They'd probably last you a really long time.

Just know that Bose isn't in the business of making heavily boosted bass products. They aim for a slightly bass boosted, warm sound signature with the majority of their stuff.

Imagine like, the most non offensive, easy on the ears sound signature possible with a sense of depth on the low end. That's Bose, for better or worse.

Small, consumerist, far better for the money but they're not bad.

Not sure of driver size but those little 2-3' woofers probably would be lucky to competently hit 100hz. Hell, I have klipsch r-41pm's, pushes 35w/channel rms at a peak of 120w/channel with 4' woofers, even at louder volumes (~50%, very nearfield) with their bass-boosted tuning (already) and the bass preset turned all the way up, I've properly toed the speakers (outward, since the treble tends to be peicing), all of that, I still don't consider them competent whatsoever for sub-60hz tones, and they start rolling off a 75hz. I wouldn't expect some teensy bose speakers that msrp for 1/4 of the price to get bass extension anywhere near that of my bookshelfs, kek.

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.
